Fig. 1 - Passenger Car Rear Suspension

The addition of the rear axle tie rod presents a rear axle lifting problem. The axle bracket for this bar projects to the rear from the axle housing in the same area generally used to lift the car on most two post lifts. If care is not use in placing the vehicle on a hoist, this bracket or either shock absorber may be inadvertently damaged. The hoist "V" must be positioned so that it rests in the are between the.

Level Air Suspension

Many changes have been made in the Level Air suspension system to provide a softer ride, quieter operation and to increase durability.

A change in vaporizor jar anti-freeze recommendations has been made which eliminates the previous recommended use of methanol anti-freeze. New recommendations are as follows:

"CAUTION: Use only denatured or wood alcohol or GM Windshield Washer Anti-freeze No. 987867. Never use "permanent" type anti-freeze or windshield washer solvent."

The approved 987867 Windshield Washer Anti-freeze is packaged in one pint cans and is sufficient for two fills of the vaporizer jar. It is readily available through Chevrolet Parts channels. Do not confuse the anti-freeze with Windshield Washer Solvent No. 987631. This solvent, packaged in plastic bags, must not be used in the vaporizer jar, as it contains water and detergent that would be detrimental to the Level Air system.
