Dealer Show Room Display “License Plates”
I’ve seen these turn up on eBay from time to time. I think they are kinda cool and they certainly beat the all-to-common “Heartbeat of America” plates that seem very much out of place on these classics. Here’s a really nice one that turned up on eBay for 1960. It’s for the Impala, but you could also get them for Biscayne, Bel Air, El Camino and I am guessing for the station wagons too, but I don’t recall seeing those models before. I’m sure Chevrolet must have done this for other years too. The dealerships could install these on the cars for display in their showrooms. Much better than no license plate at all, and it helped identify what model the car was. I don’t know if these were available to the public for purchase or just a dealer thing. Have you got one? Please share pics if you do!
